Flint Energies Deploys GO! Sync Mobile GIS
Carlsbad, CA, - January 30, 2012 - Flint Energies (Flint), uses TC Technology’s GO! Sync Mobile GIS to automate several critical operational procedures, including substation inspections, and work order inspections.
Incorporated in 1937, Flint is a not-for-profit member-owned electric cooperative that provides energy services to residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural members in parts of 17 central Georgia counties. Flint serves more than 250,000 customers through 84,200 meters. Physical plant consists of more than 6,250 miles of distribution line and 50 substations. Flint is the eighth largest of Georgia's 42 EMCs and the 38th largest of the nation's nearly 1,000 rural electric cooperatives.
Using the Inspection Extension, complex substation inspections previously relying on cumbersome paper spreadsheets are now replaced with streamlined forms accessed from a map. Pole inspections are efficiently completed using GPS and aid with auditing 20% of the system per year. Another improvement is accurate corporate systems as completed work orders include as-built mapping information that is automatically uploaded into GIS when the rugged laptops are online.
